About the Pottery course

  • The Pottery Course is run by a professional potter who will give advice and help you to make dramatic improvements in your potting skills, whether you are a beginner or an experienced amateur potter.
  • The week and weekend courses are designed to cover every aspect of the making of pottery, with special emphasis on throwing pots from a lump of clay (usually stoneware) through all the stages of throwing, pulling handles and spouts, turning and modelling to the final finished glazed and fired pot.

  • Each student has his own equipment and seated kick wheel, but instructions will also be given in hand building by slab and coil as well as press moulding and decorating.

  • We only take small numbers of students as this allows for individual attention to be given in an informal way.

  • At the end of the week your five best pots will be chosen which will be fired and glazed for you.
The only extra charge is made to cover post and packing or if you wish you can take your pots away free of charge and fire them yourselves.

  • THE DAY
Potting all day Monday to Friday. 10.00 till 1.00 p.m. Buffet lunch at Lower House then 2.00 till 5.00 p.m., with use of the Studios in the evening if you wish.

Buffet lunches are prepared by Tina selecting the most wholesome fresh produce locally sourced which includes vegetables naturally grown in her own garden without the use of pesticides and artificial fertilisers.
